Domenica 22 dicembre 2019: prima sessione di diploma a DMTateliER, con tesi di alto livello scientifico, professionale e culturale. Congratulazioni a Marilisa De Bernardi, Alessia Ferretti, Caterina Giovannetti, Giovanni Iacono, Tania Lattanzi, Valeria Manigrasso, Angela Manuli, Simona Russo, Jessica Saccomanno e Asmaa Halim, con cui abbiamo “aperto le danze”, collegati in video conferenza con l’Egitto e altri paesi del Medio Oriente. Dopo la sua toccante e acuta presentazione sul potenziale della Dmt per la riappropriazione del corpo femminile, nel corso di questa domenica di fine anno siamo stati guidati in territori popolati da adulti e bambini, in un gioco di figura e sfondo tra salute e malattia, un gioco che ha avuto come protagonista il corpo, “guaritore ferito”.

Dmt-ER® was born in psychiatry and has been developed as a community practice. Its ludic active approach is particularly effective in the developmental age, in the psychosocial work and in the training processes.
Dmt-ER® is applied as a complementary resource in different forms of psychopathology: first of all, psychoses, but also mood and anxiety disorders. Used and studied with eating disorders and addictions, it is also applied in psychosomatic disorders and in all conditions where alexithymia and rigid personality traits ask something more than a simple verbal approach.
The attention payed to psychomotor structures and its interactive devices support the application of Dmt-ER® in the rehabilitation of different forms of psychic, physical and sensorial disability, in the first steps of dementia, in behavioral and impulse control disorders. A promising area of application is represented by post-traumatic and abuse conditions. Dmt-ER® is also practiced as a complementary resource in general medicine: in cardiology, in the pre- and post-partum, in oncology.
Dmt-ER®, with its solid relational know-how, is widely used in the educational field, in community development projects, in transculturation processes, in the training of relational skills and in the team- building. Do not forget the artistic universe! It is the matrix of Dmt, but it also can be the stage where Dmt-ER® can develop its potential for the training of actors and dancers, or as a support for music education.
Our society is increasingly torn by fragmentation and anomia, where body is addressed with violence of all kinds: the bodies imprisoned in prisons, the body of female identity robbed and reduced to object, the social body humiliated and subjected in a vacuum of citizenship ... From the micro to the macro-context, performing Dmt-ER® today is also an authentically political act.
Dmt-ER® has been developed in the nineties by Vincenzo Bellia. It is rooted in Dance Therapy based on Expression Primitive and in the Group Analysis.
The method develops some basic insights of Marian Chace, the first dance therapist. In the forties of the last century, M. Chace wrote that
- Dance Therapy is based on the spontaneous motor response to the rhythmic musical stimulus
- its main purpose is to promote the participation of individuals in the group
- it acts in the processes of (trans)formation of the body image, which is «primarily a social creation».
Dmt-ER® is founded on an artistic matrix. Dance is the most complete form of movement: it gives to actions a symbolical intentionality, through an intrinsically relational creative experience, open to a multiplicity of styles and cultures of the body.
Dmt-ER® considers creativity an interpersonal process, which should not be trivialized in a narcissistic celebration. The relational game is a "creative fiction", whereas the identity of the involved individuals takes shape and transforms in new ways the collective heritage.
Rhythm has a fundamental function as a biological, psychic and relational organizer. On a rhythmic ground the individual harmonizes itself with the outer world. The rhythmic dimension is central for Dmt-ER®, due to the practice and the anthropological matrix of Expression Primitive.
Dmt-ER® has developed specific models of organization of the therapeutic setting, related to the traditional ritual devices and supported by group psychodynamics. Dmt-ER® is fundamentally oriented by a basic intuition, both philosophical and methodological: the path to develop the Self always passes through the other human being.
Since the beginning of civilization, the flow of dance creates and renews the social bond, animates the healing practices, feeds the personal and the collective well-being. In the contemporary youth cultures, the everlasting and ubiquitous "need to dance" re-emerges (Schott-Billmann).
After the last world war, in the framework of an extraordinary group therapies flowering, the workshops by Marian Chace, Trudi Schoop and Rose Gaetner opened spaces of vital awakening in the places of the most radical impoverishment of the person, the psychiatric hospitals. Since then, more than seventy years have passed. Dance Movement Therapy (Dmt) today is a profession with a solid theoretical and methodological background, based on the movement studies and the psychodynamic knowledge.
Dmt is part of the Arts Therapies, professions with an artistic and social matrix that develop the creative potential to increase individual and collective health. The knowledges, skills and competences for a professional practice of the Arts Therapies in Italy are defined by the UNI 11592:2015 Standard, pursuant to Law 4/2013.
